Cutting the Skyline
TITLE: Cutting the Skyline

AUTHOR COMMENTARY:
We are constantly manicuring our lawns and creating public spaces that allow nature to live so long as we maintain control. We are frightened of nature’s tendency towards what we perceive as disorder, so we prune branches and pull weeds. This is a photograph taken outside of Versailles where the trees have been cut so that they resemble a perfectly ordered line. They are not allowed to overtake the skyline.
