TITLE: Storytelling

CREATOR COMMENTARY:

This poem explores the concept of duality through the dual perceptions of the two speakers as they focus on a retelling of the same story. Within the poem, both speakers take opposing viewpoints, but then switch perspectives half way through, showing the duality of perspective and mindset surrounding a specific event or story. The format of the poem shows how the perspectives of the two narrators relate to each other; whether their perceptions of the story align or grow apart as the poem continues.

Ashley is a freshman Creative Writing major who loves to read, write, and dance. She works at Linden Tree Children’s Books in Los Altos, California, and has been doing ballet since she was three years old. She also has a particular affinity for fantasy novels, and is extremely proud to be a member of the Hufflepuff house from Harry Potter. She can often be found dancing around campus or curled up in odd places reading (or re-reading) her favorite books.
