Creator Commentary:
This painting was made to accompany my thesis on the evolution of Judas throughout the New Testament and what his portrayal in ancient texts and art says about our society as a whole. The piece depicts the moment in which Judas infamously kissed Jesus in order to betray him. Judas had been one of Jesus’s dearest friends and closest followers, but in this single moment of physical intimacy, any mental and spiritual intimacy they shared is now lost.
