This poem is from the perspective of a widow wrestling with longing for her late husband while also knowing she must let him go. The setting and the experience are an intimate portrait of the aftermath of the death of an intimate partner.

Leslie McCaddon is a junior in the creative writing program. She is a widow raising three children of her own plus four bonus children who technically belong to her widower fiance, but she isn’t one to be governed by technicalities. She loves to write about families, grief and injustice. When she’s not writing, socializing or doing homework, she’s most likely at Disneyland.
