The Far Side of the Moon

CREATOR COMMENTARY:

The Far Side of the Moon, as it is properly denoted, is a lunar region encompassing approximately 41% of the Moon’s surface completely concealed from observation on Earth. This has not always been the case however. Tidal Locking, a phenomenon produced by the gravitational bulging between asynchronous neighboring celestial bodies, transferred angular momentum from a prehistoric Moon to the Earth, slowing it, over millions of years until the Moon’s rotational and orbital periods were exactly equal. As a result “The Far Side of the Moon” will never again face the Earth, becoming a memory for ages long past.
