The Oyster Psalm

The World is my oyster I shall not want,
It maketh me dive deep in the blue green sea, frigid water warm on my skin;
It leadeth me through valleys of swaying, slippery seaweed, holding me close, caressing;
It spineth me around, disorienting, leaving no up, no down, just water,
And seaweed,
And oysters,
And me…

The World is my oyster I shall not want,
It maketh me pry and pry and pry,
Maketh my muscles ache;
It maketh my hands bleed, swirling red water twisting, winding;
Up up up through the salty sea.

The World is my oyster I shall not want,
It maketh me cry out!
Air escaping my lungs, water filling me, consuming me, becoming me, drowning me….
It leadeth me towards dark ocean caves,
Towards predator, towards prey;
It holdeth me in Its grasp, consuming my mind, my dreams, my heart, my disoriented,
suffocating soul;

The World is my oyster, I shall not want,
But for the bright shining pearl within.
