Creator Commentary:
This poem is centered around the concept of immortality, as the narrator expresses regret at not knowing death and what comes after. With the help of her friend, she learns to accept her immortality, but expresses to the reader that she craves death in a way no mortal being can understand. To her, living for any length of time is enough, and though she has no desire to live forever, she is content to exist as she is so long as she does not have to exist alone.

Ashley is a freshman Creative Writing major who loves to read, write, and dance. She works at Linden Tree Children’s Books in Los Altos, California, and has been doing ballet since she was three years old. She also has a particular affinity for fantasy novels, and is extremely proud to be a member of the Hufflepuff house from Harry Potter. She can often be found dancing around campus or curled up in odd places reading (or re-reading) her favorite books.
