Creator Commentary:
This poem is about the power of illusion and mindset, and how we can use illusion to see the world around us differently as a result of diverse mindsets. It is about how one person can have the power to create or break through an illusion – in this case, the narrator is expressing her amazement with the world around her through illusions created to emphasize the wonder and magnificence of nature and human connection; she is not limited by how reality is presented to her, and thus is dispelling “traditional” illusions by creating her own.

Ashley is a sophomore Creative Writing major and Dance minor who loves to read, write, and dance. She works at Linden Tree Children’s Books in Los Altos, California, and has been doing ballet since she was three years old. She also has a particular affinity for fantasy novels, and is extremely proud to be a member of the Hufflepuff house from Harry Potter. She can often be found dancing around campus or curled up in odd places reading (or re-reading) her favorite books.
