Creator Commentary:

This piece deals with the death of one of a biology teacher named Charles, and specifically the fact that he chooses his fate. His death is a result of holding onto the past, no matter the cost or the pain it will ultimately cause. Joan, however, ultimately decides to move forward with her life and to not wish for a past that couldn’t be. In the end, a future she must face alone looms before her, but she accepts the unknown over a familiar comfort.
