Creator Commentary:
This poem recounts my experience at my great grandmother’s 90th birthday this past year. Seeing the entire room filled with family and friends who cared deeply for my grandmother symbolized what humanity means to me. People are able to share the lessons and stories they’ve accumulated over time with others. In my case, I was so profoundly impacted by the things my great grandmother told me that I hold her lessons close to my heart.
